Celebrating NAIDOC Week 2024: ADP Consulting Announces Official Endorsement of Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan

ADP Consulting is proud to announce the official endorsement of our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) by Reconciliation Australia. The launch of the RAP coincides with NAIDOC Week 2024 (7-14 July) and is a significant milestone in the journey to formalise our commitment to reconciliation.

The RAP outlines changes that will be implemented by ADP Consulting over a two-year period to bolster respect, build reciprocal relationships and foster opportunities for First Nations peoples.

Our vision for reconciliation is to contribute to a future where the wisdom of Australia’s Traditional Custodians- particularly as the First Engineers- is respected and upheld. This respect not only informs better ways of working, designing and living but also enriches our understanding of First Nations culture and enables the implementation of better workplace policies and practices.

Over the past three years, we have been on a collaborative, non-linear journey of growth, learning and truth-telling, transforming our organisation through new practises, policies and values as we drafted the company’s first RAP. We believe utilising a structured framework is the best way forward, and look forward to leveraging the framework and reporting mechanisms provided by Reconciliation Australia to measure progress and provide assurance of accountability.

“Our RAP aligns closely with our core values of momentum, passion and unity as we strive to create a more inclusive and equitable future for all.”

Michael Delaney
RAP Champion and Chair

The 36-page RAP was designed by Timothy Buckley, whose heritage encompasses both Oceanic First Nations peoples (Aboriginal [Mununjali], Australian South Sea Islander and Māori) and Irish ancestry. The document incorporates ‘Thrive’, a piece commissioned by ADP Consulting to showcase our alignment with Reconciliation Australia’s five dimensions of reconciliation.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Yemurakki Egan, a proud Yorta Yorta, Wemba Wemba, and Gunditjmara man, who has provided invaluable cultural consultancy services to ADP Consulting from late 2022 to early 2024. His insights and guidance have been instrumental in shaping our understanding of First Nations culture and approach to reconciliation.

We also express our gratitude to Kyle Vander-Kuyp and the wider team at The Bulwul Njindiwan Group (TBNG) for their ongoing leadership and support. Kyle was appointed as ADP Consulting’s First Nations Advisor in April 2024, and his contributions have significantly enriched our RAP journey.

The theme of NAIDOC Week in 2024 is ‘Keep the fire burning. Blak, loud and proud’, encapsulating the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity and inviting us to listen, learn and engage in meaningful dialogue. We look forward to doing exactly that over the coming years, and to standing in solidarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to progress reconciliation through meaningful action.
